USAMO Cutoff Levels Set

2006 USA Math Olympiad qualification score set. According to Steve Dunbar, AMC Director, the cutoff level for AMC 12 is 217 and AMC 10 is 212. The AIME floor is 8.


The top students who took AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Exam) will qualify for USA Math Olympiad (USAMO) exam on April 18 and 19.  USAMO qualification is determined by the USAMO Index = AMC 10 or 12 score + 10 x AIME score.

According to Mr. Steve Dunbar, AMC Director, if you took the AMC 12 and AIME, the USAMO qualification score is 217.  A total of 240 students qualified.  If you took the AMC 10, the USAMO qualification score is 212 with a minimum AIME score of 8.  A total of 121 students qualified.  Then 7 more students were selected from states not already represented.

In 2006, a total of 368 students are selected for the USAMO.  The complete list of student names and their school will be published in a later date.
