Tedrick Leung of North Hollywood Among 2006 USAMO Winners

Tedrick Leung of North Hollywood High School is one of the 12 winners of the 2006 USA Math Olympiad competition. Zarathustra Brady of Magnolia Science Academy received Honorable Mention.

The Mathematical Association of America announced results of 2006 USA Math Olympiad competition.  Tedrick Leung, an 11th grader at North Hollywood High School, is one of the 12 winners and Zarathustra Brady, an 11th grader at Mognolia Science Academy, received Honorable Mention. 

2006 USAMO Winners and Honorable Mention

The winners will participate in the Math Olympiad Summer Program where the representative of the USA Math Olympiad Team will be selected to compete at the 2006 International Olympiad Competition.

The USAMO (United States of America Mathematics Olympiad) provides a means of identifying and encouraging the most creative secondary mathematics students in the country. It serves to indicate the talent of those who may become leaders in the mathematical sciences of the next generation. The USAMO is part of a worldwide system of national mathematics competitions, a movement in which both educators and research mathematicians are engaged in recognizing and celebrating the imagination and resourcefulness of our youth.

375 students advanced through AIME to participate in the USAMO.  The top 54 participate and freshman are invited to the Math Olympiad Summer Program.
