- Two Southland Students Received Perfect Scores on AMC 10
- The Mathematical Association of American announced the students who received perfect scores on AMC 10 and AMC 12 Competition. Two southland students among those honored.
- 2006 US Physics Team Semi-Finalists Announced
- American Association of Physics Teachers announced the semi-finalists for the 2006 US Physics Team. Ten Southern California high school students made the list.
- Pacific Life Math Day at the Beach Results Announced
- 2006 Pacific Life Math Day At The Beach was held at California State University Long Beach on March 18, 2006. Tedrick Leung of North Hollywood High School won top individual honor while North Hollywood High School won top team award.
- San Diego Math League Contests Result Announced
- San Diego Math League concluded its five round math competition for middle school and high school students on March 25, 2006 at University of California San Diego. Vicent Le placed first in the Gauss (high school) Division and Johnny Li won top honor in the Euler (middle school) Division.
- USAMO Cutoff Levels Set
- 2006 USA Math Olympiad qualification score set. According to Steve Dunbar, AMC Director, the cutoff level for AMC 12 is 217 and AMC 10 is 212. The AIME floor is 8.
- 12 Students in Southern California Qualified for USAMO
- American Mathematics Society announced names of the 374 students who qualified to take USA Math Olympiad (USAMO) exam. A total of 39 students are from California. Among them are 12 students from Southern California.
- Troy High School wins another state Science Olympiad
- Barbara Giasone of The Orange County Register reported that Troy High School of Fullerton, Orange County, wins its 12th California Science Oympiad since 1985.
- Stanford University EPGY opens The EPGY Online High School
- Through a generous gift from the Malone Family Foundation of Englewood, Colorado, Stanford University's EPGY announces the creation of the EPGY Online High School at Stanford University.
- 2006 Intel Science Talent Search (STS) Winners Announced
- California student, Yi Sun of The Harker School, won 2nd place and received a $75,000 scholarship.
- California MATHCOUNTS Top 40% Team and 25% Individuals Announced
- California MATHCOUNTS announced teams finished in the top 40% and individuals finished in the top 25%. Ridgecredit Middle School is the Southern California section winner and Redwood Middle School is the Northern California section winner. Kevin Yang, Tonny Ho, Jim Li and Rolland Wu will represent California to compete at National MATHCOUNTS.
- Two Southern California Students Earned Top 10 Finishes at the 2006 USAMTS Competition
- Shotaro Makisumi and Jeffrey Manning earned top 10 finishes at the 2006 USA Mathematical Talent Search by scoreing 99 out of 100 points.
- Tedrick Leung of North Hollywood Among 2006 USAMO Winners
- Tedrick Leung of North Hollywood High School is one of the 12 winners of the 2006 USA Math Olympiad competition. Zarathustra Brady of Magnolia Science Academy received Honorable Mention.
- Dr. George Lenchner Passed Away
- Dr. George Lenchner, the creater of the Mathmatical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools passed away on April 23, 2006 at the age of 88.
- St. Margaret's Tied for 5th at California Mathematics League Contest
- California Mathematics League announced 2005-2006 middle school competition results. St. Margaret's Episcopal School tied for 5th at the 7th grade. Johnny Li of St. Margaret's tied for 1st.
- University High School Took Top Honors at PhysicsBowl 2006
- University High School of Irvine placed first in Division I PhysicsBowl 2006 competition. Torrey Pines High School placed first in Division II, Region 14. The competitions were held between April 3 - 14, 2006 at participating schools.
- State College HS, PA Wins 2006 National Science Bowl. Three California Schools Placed in Top Four
- State College Area High School from State College, PA, won the Department of Energy National Science Bowl. Teams representing 65 schools from across the United States competed in this "Science Jeopardy" competition on May 1, 2006 in Washington, DC. Three California Schools, North Hollywood High School, Santa Monica High School, and Albany High School, finished in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
- 2006 U.S. Physics Team Formed
- AAPT announced 2006 U.S. Physics Team. Five students from California made the team.
- 2006 USA Biology Olympiad Finalists Announced
- Center for Excellence in Education announced the 20 finalists for 2006 USA Biology Olympiad Team. Three Southern California students made the finalists.
- California Finished 10th in National MATHCOUNTS
- National MATHCOUNTS were held this weekend. California uncharacteristically dropped out of top five.
- 2006 U.S. Physics Team Formed
- After two weeks of intensive training and selection process, 2006 U.S. Physics Team formed. The team will repersent United States at the 2006 Internation Physics Olympiad Competition in Singapore.

- United States Won Four Gold and One Silver Medals at 37th International Physics Olympiad
