Avid Academy Currently Ranks 5th in Rocket City Math League

Our team earns a high placement after the inter-school round of this competition.

After an interschool testing round in the Rocket City Math League (RCML), Avid Academy ranks in 5th place against all the other participating schools.

The RCML consists of three rounds of math tests with an inter-school test in between. Round One was at the beginning of October, and Round Two will occur in early February; the inter-school test fills in the gap and gives more incentive to practice.

The goal of the RCML is to invigorate gifted students in math, to encourage hard work through friendly competition, and to develop both individual interest and teamwork. The first RCML was started by high school students in 2001, and has been a student-run foundation ever since. Although it started as a local contest in Alabama, the RCML has grown to become an international math competition.

Combined with the high scores in other categories (as detailed in a previous news item, Rocket City Math League National Rankings), Avid Academy's bright students have given our team a headstart for the rest of the competition. Avid Academy appears in the top 10 schools across the board, signalling future success in the next two rounds.
