Mrs. Ester Tarui Wins the 2009 Elementary School Coach of the Year Award

This year, the 2009 Orange County Math Club Coach of the Year Award goes to Mrs. Ester Tarui of Tijeras Creek Elementary School. Her students of the Mathmagicians Team and the AAA/Gate Math Team would like to recognize her for her amazing commitment to the fifth grade students of Tijeras Creek Elementary School. Mrs. Tarui a second grade teacher, spent numerous hours mentoring and encouraging math students after school at Tijeras Creek for the entire school year. She did this out of her passion for teaching problem solving in a fun environment. Mrs. Tarui volunteered her time and was not compensated for her efforts. Her patience and enthusiasm helped the students develop a new love for math problem solving. She taught them that there different ways to approach a math problem and not to be discouraged. If students were not immediately able to solve a problem, Mrs. Tarui demonstrated a variety of methods to solve a single problem. She also made sure that she challenged and assisted each student at their own level. The students and parents of the Tijeras Creek Mathmagicians and AAA/Gate Math honor Mrs. Ester Tarui for her commitment to her students this year, and for her dedication and passion for teaching, Mrs. Tarui has earned the 2009 Orange County Math Club Coach of the Year Award.
