Thirteen Students Advance to MATHCOUNTS State Competitions

All chapter mathcounts competitions have ended in the past three weeks.  A total of 61 students of Avid Academy in grades 6 - 8 participated.  Following students advanced to the state competition to be held on March 14, 2010 at UCI.

• Young Hoen Kang, 8th Grade, Rancho San Juan Joaquin Middle School
• HeeSoo Kim, 7th Grade, Rancho San Juan Joaquin Middle School
• Spencer Ma, 7th Grade, Rancho San Juan Joaquin Middle School
• Jeffrey Qiao, 6th Grade, Eastshore Elementary School
• Brian Wagner, 8th Grade, Harbor Day School
• Wendy Wei, 8th Grade, Venado Middle School
• Larry Zhang, 8th Grade, Suzanne Middle School
• Kevin Zhang, 8th Grade, Suzanne Middle School

Individually, Brian Wagner placed 2nd in the Orange County Chapter and Larry Zhang and Kevin Zhang tied for 2nd in the East San Gabrial Chapter.
