Avid eLearning is a blended learning platform that enriches the learning experience of our students.  This blended learning platform combines the best in classroom instruction with online extensions.  It consists of the following great features:

• Before Class: Students may study prerequisite materials for each lesson before they come to the classroom.  This gives all the students an equal opportunity to start on the same page during classroom instruction.  Since students may have varying levels of prior-knowledge, a self-study approach ensures that every student has the same background knowledge with regard to understanding lectures and is the most efficient approach to learning.
• During Class: Our instruction will focus more on problem solving via hands-on practice and classroom discussions.  Our approach to math and science is "Learning by Doing".  Students will accrue positive problem solving expertise guided by experienced coaches.  Student homework will be graded with grades posted online in their gradebook.
• After Class: Students can review classroom materials, discuss problems via classroom forums and create personal blogs and wiki pages to share their knowledge with other classmates.
• Using the Internet: The Internet is a rich learning resource to us.  It allows student to access facts, graphs and videos available only on the Internet enriching their learning experience. 
• Social Network: We offer students a chance to gain social network experience in a "walled" and safe environment.  Students can communicate with fellow students, parents and teachers within our platform, but not with anyone who is not a member of the Avid Academy Community.  The platform offers many facebook-like features, but uses these features to advance learning objectives rather than distractions.
• Clubs: We offer virtual clubs where students of similar interests can work together to cultivate those interests further.  For example, if a student is interested in participating in the OC Science Fair, she can join the OC Science Fair Club and get access to specific resources, share knowledge with others and get help when needed.  The virtual clubs also offer leadership opportunities to students.
