How Does the USAMTS Work?
The USAMTS consists of 4 rounds of 5 problems each. Students are allowed a full month to work on their solutions. Carefully written justifications are required for each problem. The problems are published on the USAMTS website. Each round of problems is published at least four weeks before the solutions are due.
Why Should You Participate?
The USAMTS gives you the opportunity to tackle difficult problems on your own time at your own pace. You may use any materials, such as books, calculators, and computers, but all the work must be your own. You can also qualify for the AIME (American Invitational Math Exam) through the USAMTS. Also, with the permission of the participants, the USAMTS names and addresses may be released to universities and employers for recruitment purposes. Also, the top 30 male and top 30 female contestants receive partial scholarships to USA Mathcamp.
How to Participate?
You must register on the USAMTS website (www.usamts.org). The USAMTS entry form can be submitted with the first set of solutions. Make sure to read the complete set of rules while you are on the USAMTS website, as well as how to submit your answers. After each round, check the website for your results.
