The rules below for the specific rounds are subject to change.
The team round will last for an hour. The test will have two equally weighted parts: a power question and a short answer part. Teams will be able to work on the two parts simultaneously.
- The power question will be similar in style to the ARML power round, although it will be shorter. Teams will be expected to fully justify their answers to the power question. The power question will be worth 90 points.
- The short answer part of the team round will have ten questions worth 9 points each with numerical or algebraic answers. In the short answer part, teams will not need to justify their answers. To get full credit, they will need only to write down the correct answer.
The individual round will last for an hour. The test will have fifteen questions worth 2 points each with numeric or algebraic answers. Like in the short answer part of the team round, students will not need to justify their answers to the individual round questions.
In the mixer round, students will be grouped with students from other teams. This round will not count towards the students' or teams' scores, but there will be a separate small prize for the winning team of the mixer round. Each team will have two questions. Whenever a team submits an answer to one of their questions, the team will receive a new question. The round ends five minutes after a team receives the last question.
The tiebreaker round will be similar to the ARML tiebreaker round. The top students with the same score on the individual round will be given a question to be solved in ten minutes. The students will be able to submit an answer only once, and they will be ranked by the time when they submit a correct answer.
Scoring
An individual's score will be his or her score on the individual round. If ties must be broken to determine the ranks of the top students, the tiebreaker round will be used.
A team's score will be the sum of its team round score and the individual round scores of its members. The rounds are weighted so that the sum of the individual round scores is worth as much as the team round score. If two teams are tied, the following criteria will be used, in order, until a winner can be determined:
- Highest team round score.
- Highest power question score.
- The highest-numbered question on the short answer part of the team round answered correctly by one tied team but incorrectly by another.
In the unlikely event that two teams are still tied, a tie breaking procedure similar to the tiebreak round will be used.
In the mixer round, the team that answers the most questions correctly wins. In case of a tie, the winning team will be the one that correctly answered the lowest-numbered question that one tied team answered correctly but another tied team did not.
